Lower Merion High School’s 8th Annual Maroon Madness benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer is set for Friday, November 30th.
The event begins at 6 PM with a tailgate party outside the entrance of the Kobe Bryant ’96 Gymnasium. Principal Sean Hughes will be working the grills and there will be live entertainment—including fire performers—and merchandise giveaways. At 7 PM, the school community will gather in the bus circle for a candlelight walk to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer and then head into the gym for the evening’s basketball festivities. Highlights include the introduction of the boys and girls teams, an intra-squad scrimmage, on-court fan contests, musical entertainment and raffles for LM/Nike gear. The Aces will also welcome several surprise guests.
More than 1,000 community members attended last year’s event, which serves as the official start to Lower Merion’s winter athletics season and the school’s annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising drive. The LM community raised nearly $40,000 to benefit cancer research last school year.
Maroon Madness is presented by ATR Records, LMSD’s student-produced music label. A $5 donation to Coaches vs. Cancer is suggested for admission.
